A new Lion’s Coach for continental Europe will be launched at Busworld in Belgium in October, along with another addition to the Neoplan Tourliner line-up that is available in the UK and Ireland. ANDREW JAROSZ reports on these and forthcoming bus developments at this Volkswagen company.

Decidedly upbeat in its forecasts, Volkswagen-owned MAN showed off its latest coach model — the new generation left-hand-drive Lion’s Coach — in July, ahead of its official launch at Busworld Kortrijk in October.

Last year’s launch of the redesigned Neoplan Tourliner has been followed by a redesigned Skyliner double-decker, which celebrates its 50th birthday this year. MAN will be exhibiting the Lion’s City Hybrid, Lion’s Intercity and Lion’s Coach, as well as the Skyliner and Tourliner at Busworld. The Lion’s Coach is the only integral coach now branded as an MAN and after 21 years and at least five makeovers it has achieved a great deal of commonality with the Neoplan, which is not surprising as they are both built at MAN’s Ankara plant in Turkey.

MAN will also exhibit a new Tourliner variant, a two-axle 13.1m version coded P10. The four Tourliner models will be the only ones built in right-hand-drive form for the UK…
