LINKS ACROSS LINCS: Part 2

In the second* part of a journey he made late last summer, DAVID JENKINS explores more of the InterConnect network in Lincolnshire, but first has to avoid becoming stranded in Mablethorpe.

My InterConnect journey from Skegness to Louth has been thrown off course by what turns out to be a regular road closure for a weekly market in Mablethorpe. Every source I have tried gives no clues as to where the Louth bus might stop, so I follow the signposts to the tourist information centre. 

That too is fruitless, as I discover later it has moved elsewhere. With time running out, I return to the substantial stop opposite the ‘bus station’ (basically a coach park) and find the Louth bus on the timetable display. There is nothing about the stop not being served on Thursdays, though lots of people are waiting. Mind you, the Skegness bus is due at the same time. 

Departure time comes and goes, and there is still no sign of the bus. Until I happen to turn round and see it on the opposite side of the road, outside the ‘bus station’. This is not even a marked bus stop – it is a taxi rank – but it is true that my bus from Skegness had also stopped there to drop off. Something, subse…
