Vienna buys big Citaro bendies

Wiener Linien, which runs public transport in the Austrian capital Vienna, has ordered 62 of the shorter, 19.73m version of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro CapaCity bendybus.

The four-axle Capacity still has extra large proportions but takes second place behind the extended 21m L version, which recently found favour with Hamburg’s Hochbahn undertaking and Dresden (Global News, December). The CapaCity was introduced in 2007 as a 19.54m variant.

The Vienna CapaCitys have space for 48 seated and 120 standing passengers. Three additional outside cameras make them more manageable to drive. They are part of an order for 200 Citaros for Vienna that also include 12m rigids and 18m and Citaro G artics.
