Bus of the Year

The winner - by a huge margin - is another six-wheel double-decker, the Volvo B8L with Alexander Dennis Enviro400XLB body.

Volvo developed the B8L initially for the Far East, especially Hong Kong, but has modified it for the UK.

The UK launch customer was Lothian Buses, which wanted much higher capacity vehicles for city services in Edinburgh. Alexander Dennis designed the Enviro400XLB with two doors and seats for up to 100 passengers.

Lothian has bought 63 of them, 15 with luggage racks and tinted glass windows for its Airlink service to Edinburgh Airport. Stagecoach has bought 12 for the Cambridge Busway.
