Reading Buses 701, the prototype Optare Spectra-bodied DAF DB250 that appeared at the Coach & Bus show at the National Exhibition Centre in 1991 and featured on the cover of the first large page issue of BUSES in January 1992.
It has been restored to the burgundy and cream livery with pale blue band that it wore when new, with the Spectra name across the back, above the engine compartment, as Optare used it for demonstration before it was delivered to Reading early in 1992. It is owned in a private capacity by Robert Williams, Reading Buses’ current chief executive officer.
