Bus Éireann retains Waterford city routes

Transport for Ireland has named stateowned Bus Éireann as the preferred bidder for five city routes in Waterford that were put out to tender.

Frequencies on the routes will be increased by 5% to handle a modest increase in ridership and 17 new Euro6-engined buses will be purchased to operate them

This is the second tranche of routes that TfI has exposed to competitive tender. The first, in Dublin, resulted in a win for Go-Ahead Group. A decision is awaited on a third tranche in the Kildare and Newbridge area.
