SCANIA INTEGRAL RETURN

A decade after OmniCity production ceased, Scania is to once again provide integral buses for the UK, starting with the Fencer f1.

Scania has unveiled the first vehicle in its new Fencer bus range, which will be available in right-hand drive in the UK ahead of anywhere else in world.

The Fencer f1 is a singledecker, fully built-up bus. It will be the first complete Scania single-decker to be released in the UK for ten years, since production of the OmniCity ceased. The replacement for the OmniCity, the Citywide, was not made available in right-hand drive.

The f1 forms the basis of a new platform for Scania buses, and the range will be introduced into other markets in the future.

Fencers will be built in China in a Scania facility, using Higer personnel. The arrangement is the same as that used to construct Scania Touring coaches. Martin West, sales director – bus and coach at Scania (Great Britain), highlighted that there is now a dedicated Scania facility in China, rather than a single production line in a Higer factory.
