Isle of Wight Beer & Buses

PRESERVATION UPDATE

The Isle of Wight Bus Museum’s Beer & Buses running event on 14/15 October again drew a large entry of vehicles and visiting public from across Britain, with visitors praising the high standard of organisation for those interested in both aspects of the weekend.

Among the participating vehicles, photographed between journeys at Newport Quay, were Derby City Transport 153 (E153 BTO), a Northern Counties-bodied Volvo Citybus, and Northern Counties Palatine II-bodied Volvo Olympian NV371 (R371 LGH) preserved in London General heritage prewar livery.

Returning to the island for the first time in 27 years was ECW-bodied Bristol VRT NDL 652R, newly restored to Southern Vectis privatisation livery as fleetnumber 652 and pictured in Yarmouth.

The night photograph shows Southern Vectis ECW-bodied Bristol LHS6L 202 (KDL 202W) in Newport High Street. It is owned by event organiser Ben Bartram and is in National Bus Company livery.
