Further gains for RATP

Existing vehicles dominate in tendered service awards

LOOK IN ON LONDON

RATP companies have continued their recent success in gaining work in north-west London and will operate an additional three routes from this autumn, currently provided by Metroline or Metroline West.

The peak vehicle requirements for routes 223 (Harrow-Wembley) and 224 (Wembley-St Raphael’s Estate) have yet to be confirmed, as both routes are subject to proposed restructuring.

Arriva London South will cede operation of route 403 (West Croydon-Warlingham) to Go- Ahead London Metrobus from 27 October.

This route, which once linked Wallington and Tonbridge, was historically a Country Area service, but in its shortened form was almost entirely in Greater London and was absorbed into the London Buses network from August 1986.

With operation initially contracted to London Country, there was little sign of outward change. Retendering in 1991 saw South London take over from Croydon garage, when it took on its current termini.

London & Country won it back in November 1994 from Beddington Farm garage. The following year London & Country’s London Buses contracts passed to newly formed Londonlinks, which was absorbed into Arriva London South in 1999.
