Founded: 1 March 1972 when Brian and Pat Owens purchased six-coach R. O. Edwards of Llanrwst to create Alpine Travel.

Acquired six-vehicle Hughes Bros of Llanrwst (founded 1949) in 1977, Royal Red Tours, Llandudno 1987, Creams Tours, Llandudno 1990, Empire Gold Star, Llandudno Junction 1996, Regina Coaches, Blaenau Ffestiniog 1997, Clwydian Tours, Pentre Llanrhaeadr 2007, Silver Star, Caernarfon 2014 and Jones Tours, Flint 2017. Expanded into Llandudno 1985. Opened Rhyl depot 1990s. Operated tendered and commercial local bus routes in Llandudno and Colwyn Bay until 1996 deal with Crosville Wales saw Alpine end these in return for exclusive right to local hires and excursions.

All fleet merged into Hughes licence 1981 and the family business, Hughes Bros (Llanrwst & Trefriw) Ltd trading as Alpine Travel, has been led by son Christopher Jones since 2007.
