Founded: 1983 by Peter Hunter. Frank Healey joined 2004 as business partner. Sold 2022 to Leeds solicitor Rajinder Digwa and his family. Son Ravinderpal, a management accountant, joined Hunters last year.
Peter Hunter started in the industry with West Yorkshire Road Car in 1969 and founded Baron Coach Hire 1974, sharing premises at Woodbottom Mills, Horsforth with J&B Travel. Set up Optional Bus with J&B to take over a tendered service, expanding it to operate three routes commercially with 13 vehicles before selling routes and eight buses to Yorkshire Rider in August 1999. Purchased first new coach, Bova Futura M908 XWA, in 1995.
New owner has invested over £1million in upgrading fleet, installing closed-circuit television on all vehicles and substantial hardware and software integration in backoffice.
