Founded: Stephen Challis and Andrew Warnes, two of the three founders of Konectbus, formed Coastal Red Ltd in 2013 and were rejoined in November 2014 by Julian Patterson, latterly managing director of Go East Anglia. The three had co-owned Konectbus from 1999 until they sold it to Go-Ahead in March 2010.
Began operations January 2015 with a Volvo B10M/Plaxton Interurban coach on emergency contract between Southery and Downham Market Academy and four secondhand Optare Tempos on hourly all-week service between King’s Lynn and Hunstanton. Took over 14 routes from Stagecoach, starting with three contracted services in 2017, eight after Stagecoach closed its King’s Lynn depot in April 2018 and three more in September 2018.
Developments in 2019 included funding renewal of bus shelter at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, with Norfolk County Council providing real-time displays, and added live bus tracker, fare calculator and journey planner to own website.
