This latest release in Independent Transport Videos’ customary format — no commentary other than introductory captions, lots of footage of moving vehicles — is centred on two recent developments at Cardiff Bus: the introduction of 36 battery-electric Yutong E12 single-deckers and the withdrawal of its last Scania OmniCity bendybuses.
Other than glimpses aboard stationary vehicles, all the footage of the Yutongs — filling the first hour of the production — is filmed from outside. The first 38min are devoted to sequences at the Castleford premises of importer Pelican in which they arrive from China, are put through pre-delivery trials, graphics are applied to their route-specific liveries and they depart for Cardiff. Most are driven under their own power, but one with shipping damage arrives on a low-loader owned by haulage and coach company Coopers of Killamarsh and another hitches a lift to Cardiff on the same trailer.
