THE VOICE OF INDEPENDENTS

ALBUM represents independent and municipal bus operators throughout the UK, providing a voice to a section of the sector which can be skipped over in favour of the larger PLCs. The annual conference will be hosted by Warrington’s Own Buses, providing a closer look at one of the most ambitious fleet overhauls in the history of the UK bus industry

ALBUM is the Association of Local Bus Managers. Its membership consists of directors and managers at independent bus companies, including the UK's remaining municipally-owned operators.

As of 2024, ALBUM has approximately 100 members from bus and coach operators, representing around 40 different companies. The combined ALBUM ‘fleet’ numbers around 5,000 vehicles.

It also has a growing number of supplier members, totalling around 24.

Bill Hiron, managing director of Stephensons of Essex, has been chair of ALBUM since 2018. 

Roots

The originals of ALBUM go back to the Tramway Managers Association, which formed at the beginning of the 20th Century. This would later become the Municipal Tramways Association, followed by the Municipal Transport Association.
