Publicity matters in Rhyl

We recently visited Rhyl in north Wales for a few days’ break, during which we travelled around by bus and train, mainly around Denbighshire but also having brief forays into the other north Wales counties of Conwy, Gwynedd and Ynys Mon (Anglesey)

While, from memory, Gwynedd stopped publishing a paper timetable as long ago as 2011, the other authorities have regularly published printed timetables until more recent times. They were both colourful and comprehensive. None of these has been published recently.

All of the counties also had comprehensive timetables online.

Gwynedd continues to do so (although the link from Bangor to Ynys Mon is considerably out of date). The others simply provide a link to either Traveline Cymru or individual operators. As far as I am aware, Arriva Cymru does not publish any printed timetables; nor do any of the independent operators.

Back to on-the-ground experience.

On leaving Rhyl station there is a bus electronic departure board which, unhelpfully, says no services today (not verbatim). The (older) electronic departure points at the individual stands were not working, although there were printed timetables at each bus stand, as was the case at Prestatyn bus station.
