The speaker lineup for the Public Transport North conference is now almost complete. Taking place from September 12-13 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Manchester Piccadilly, the second day of the event is dedicated to buses, with speakers from several transport authorities, bus operator and suppliers. The confirmed speakers are as follows:

Andy Burnham, mayor of Greater Manchester City Region

The mayor of Greater Manchester will open the conference. Burnham is in the process of implementing a franchised bus network in Greater Manchester, the Bee Network, which will begin to go live two weeks after the conference date. The city region has an ambitious target of 30% passenger growth.

Zach McAskill, head of franchise mobilisation at Stagecoach Manchester

Representing the largest operator in Manchester’s deregulated bus market, McAskill is in charge of the company’s transition back into regulated operations. Expect interesting insight on the hurdles the business has faced in making the transition, and preparing for one of the biggest operational shake ups since deregulation
