MUSEUM GUIDE 2020/2021

Welcome to your annual guide to events for bus and coach enthusiasts — rallies, running days, commemorative events, auctions and trade fairs between now and spring 2021.

Our own BUSES Festival returns to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, Warwickshire on 23 August, offering displays and rides in modern and preserved vehicles, and a wide range of trade stands, at a top class all-weather venue. Look out for more announcements over the coming months.

The rally season gets into full swing on the weekend of 4/5 April, with the South East Bus Festival at Detling near Maidstone on the Saturday and the London Bus Museum’s Spring Gathering at Brooklands on the Sunday. Two of this year’s big anniversaries will be celebrated there, the 50th of the separation of London Transport’s Country Area to form London Country Bus Services and 90 years since the first Green Line coaches served Greater London.

Four centenaries reached in 2020 are of the municipal buses of Plymouth on 26 July, Salford on 5 July and Wallasey on 12 April, of Thames Valley Traction on 12 July and of the National Omnibus & Transport Company at the annual Royal Blue Run on 18-22 June.
