Kent County Council will support a limited partial replacement service for Arriva Southern Counties route 402 for travel between Sevenoaks and Greater London.
Arriva is to withdraw the section of the 402 (Tunbridge Wells-Bromley) north of Sevenoaks from July (Look in on London last month). Go-coach Hire will operate new route 431, providing three off peak return trips, on weekdays only, between Sevenoaks and Orpington.
The council says it recognises that this will not be a popular replacement for those affected by the withdrawal of the London end of the 402, but stresses that the new level of service is the most that it can justify against existing levels of patronage and can be afforded given that this represents a new financial commitment against an already pressurised area of spend.
