As explained elsewhere in this magazine, the latest Stagecoach Handbook, compiled in close cooperation with the operator, reveals a lot about vehicles on order for delivery in 2024/25, not least of which are the first Finnish-built Volvo 9700DD double-deck coaches for the UK.

These and some of the other vehicles in the pipeline — electric buses from Volvo, Wrightbus and Yutong, and Tourismo coaches from Mercedes-Benz among them — are a sign of how the group’s fleet seems set to evolve in the years to come, still with Alexander Dennis content but gradually with a much lower proportion than is still the case today.

Something else that has changed with this edition is Stagecoach’s adoption of three-letter codes to identify its depots.

Most make immediate sense, like ADR for Andover, PER for Perth and POR for Porth.
