Group still seeks bolt-on acquisitions

Go-Ahead says it is still in the market for bolt-on acquisitions that will increase its revenue and profits.

Announcing its half-year results to 31 December, it says Go South Coast’s recent purchases of 85-vehicle Thamesdown Transport from Swindon Borough Council and the familyowned 22-vehicle Excelsior Coaches business in Bournemouth will allow it to deliver cost synergies and drive revenue in the long-term through the expertise of its our local teams.

‘Gradual market consolidation since privatisation in the 1980s has left a relatively small pool of opportunities like this in the UK,’ it explains. ‘However, our bus development team continually assesses the market for value adding acquisitions.

‘We also regularly consider the attractiveness of tendered contracts in the UK, exercising the financial discipline we apply across the group when bidding.’
