Grayling: ‘We will reverse BSB changes’

UK transport secretary Chris Grayling says the government will reverse changes made to the Bus Services Bill in the House of Lords that would, among other things, allow the creation of new arms length municipal operators.

In a recorded address to the Confederation of Passenger Transport’s annual dinner in London on 26 January, Grayling said that the government does not agree with the measures giving all councils in England powers to franchise bus networks without prior ministerial approval, and powers to set up arms length bus companies.

‘We will take the opportunity to reverse these changes as the Bill goes through the Commons.’
