Franchising and the Greater Manchester mayor
Last month’s Buses led with the news that the ‘mayor favours franchising’. It is important to clarify to your readers that the mayor does not currently favour any option to improve Greater Manchester’s bus market.
The mayor and other leaders of the local authorities in Greater Manchester have agreed and endorsed a vision for buses in Greater Manchester, where bus is integrated with the rest of the city region’s public transport; that has simple and understandable ticketing; that provides a high-quality experience and offers value for money.
