A tri-axle MCI coach from the United States was one of the surprises at the Ensignbus running day on 3 December.
The left-hand-drive MC9 coach, with twostroke Detroit Diesel engine, was acquired from a buyer who had brought it to the UK for film work and Ensign has repainted it in an Americruiser livery influenced by the Greyhound scheme of the 1980s. Its UK registration YYR 832 — displayed additionally on Oklahoma and California number plates — spells out Yankee Yankee Romeo, which Ensign says is the best it could do to acknowledge its heritage.
