Hear! Hear! to Roger French’s ‘Amazon would do it’ theme (Inside Track last month).
Perhaps Roger could be persuaded to write a more in-depth feature, drawing on his great experience in the bus industry, about just why bus managers and train managers — even when working for the same group — find it so difficult to talk to each other.
After all, the prize could be a major increment in income and profits for both sectors. It has always seemed to me to be a major failing of the modern bus companies that they evaluate each route individually, without looking at its contribution to the whole network; hence the idea of feeder routes appears to be restricted to council subsidised services.
