A UNIQUE MIX THAT ONCE MADE LUTON SPECIAL

Until the end of the 1960s, the bus scene in Luton was a unique mix of municipal, state-owned company and London Transport.

Luton Corporation’s red fleet and the green one of United Counties operated at a northern extremity of the huge area in which London Transport enjoyed a virtual monopoly; some of LT’s green Country Area buses and Green Line coaches used a garage in the Bedfordshire town.
