Transpora splinters as directors separate

​The Transpora group was split up in early July, when directors Philip Higgs and Rhys Hand separated their interests.

Philip Higgs remains in control of the north west businesses – Coastliner Buses at Blackpool and Manchester Sightseeing – as well as the Londoner Buses operation which uses Routemasters on heritage route T15.

He also owns Altonian Coaches Ltd – briefly renamed Transporabus South West Ltd before reverting to the previous title – holder of the operator licence for services in the Greater Bristol area, and which is due to appear at a Traffic Commissioner's public inquiry during August.

Rhys Hand remains a director of Transpora Transport Solutions Ltd, although this does not hold an O-licence.

Both have resigned from Transpora Group Ltd, which despite its name, was not a holding company, and is now called WC1LDN Ltd.

The split has precipitated the collapse of the Bristol operations, with The Big Lemon and Stagecoach stepping in to cover most of the routes and contracts, in The Big Lemon's case initially using buses and staff hired from one of the Transpora businesses.
