Transport for London has confirmed that the next two routes to form the Superloop network in outer London will be running before the end of the year, although the exact start date is still to be confirmed.
Route SL1 (North Finchley – Walthamstow Central) will run alongside the existing route 221 (Turnpike Lane – Edgware) between North Finchley and New Southgate, and route 34 (Barnet Church – Walthamstow) between Arnos Grove and Walthamstow. It will connect with nearly 50 existing bus routes across as well as rail services from New Southgate, Arnos Grove, Silver Street and Walthamstow Central stations. Following feedback received in the public consultation, the SL1 will also now be stopping in Chingford and at Meriden Water. It will be operated by Arriva London North using existing hybrid double-decker buses under a variation to the existing contract for route 34, which expires on November 8, 2024.
The SL10 (Harrow – North Finchley) will run parallel route 183 (Pinner – Golders Green) between Harrow and Hendon and route 125 (Colindale – Winchmore Hill) between Hendon and North Finchley.
