Letters from the Department for Transport (DfT) to successful Local Transport Authorities (LTAs) reveal that Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding comes with a raft of conditions.

The DfT states that confirmation of indicative funding is “conditional on your submission and implementation of an Enhanced Partnership (EP) which includes firmer and more detailed commitments.”

LTAs have been given less than four weeks to submit their EP plans to the DfT, despite the fact that many are in an electoral cycle and will not be able to get formal political approval within this timescale.
