Transdev has launched the first of its Alexander Dennis Enviro400EVs for the flagship 36 between Leeds and Harrogate, which has been loaded with extra comforts and features. JAMES DAY attends the event

The Enviro400EV is unveiled.

Transdev Blazefield has become well known for its extravagant publicity, and this approach was taken once again with the launch of the first vehicle in a new electric double-decker fleet.

The recipient of the fleet upgrade is Harrogate Bus Company’s route 36. The flagship 27-mile service, which runs between Harrogate and Leeds via Harewood every 10 minutes, has been promoted as a high-spec route by the operator, aimed at attracting passengers out of cars. The operator claims it has been successful in doing so, with “most of its passengers having access to a car”.

To replace the existing vehicles, Transdev sought to bring in what it claims will be the most high-spec buses in service in the whole of the UK when they enter service.
