Solaris supplies record 52 fuel-cell buses to Germany

Solaris has announced a record order to supply 52 hydrogen-powered buses to the Rebus Regiobus transport company, which operates in and around the northern German city of Rostock.

The manufacturer secured the order for 47 solo Urbino Hydrogen 12m buses and five of the articulated 18m versions following a Europewide tender. Delivery is set to be completed by the end of next year, with operation due to start in 2025. This is the largest single hydrogen bus order for Solaris. So far, around 100 hydrogen Urbinos have been delivered to transport companies in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Poland.

Two hydrogen filling stations will be built at depots in Güstrow and Bad Doberan, resulting in overall investment of €30m (£26.1m) for the vehicles plus about €10m for the H2 filling stations and the conversion of workshops etc.
