SLIMMED DOWN SCANIA SETS OUT STALL

Scania’s low-key presence at Busworld came against the background of a fundamental rethink of where it wants to take its bus and coach business.

It is ceasing production of its own bus and coach bodies at its factory at Slupsk in Poland and has also withdrawn from the global market for full low-floor single-deckers. This latter move fits with the policy of modular production — minimising the variation of driveline units across its bus and truck ranges — which has been a cornerstone of its business for the past 60 years.
