Something that characterises Transport for London’s management team in charge of its buses is its greatly increased focus on public safety. Some of this stems from key individuals having come to road passenger transport from the railways, where safety procedures, measurements and monitoring have been woven into everyday life over nearly 200 years of devising systems and working practices to reduce the risk of repeating catastrophic accidents.
