Rapido says ‘New Look’ Brum Guy model will set new standard

Rapido Trains has revealed that its first 1:76-scale model bus for the UK will be of a Birmingham City Transport ‘New Look’ Guy Arab IV, to be available in autumn 2018.

Jason Shron, the Canadian manufacturer’s president, says this injection moulded plastic and metal model will be the most detailed and accurate 1:76-scale bus yet produced for UK collectors, based on a 3D scan taken of Birmingham 2976 (JOJ 976) in the Wythall Transport Museum collection.

Features will include all body weld lines, extrusions and rivets rendered accurately; full multi-coloured interior without construction poles; separate wire handrails and rear platform grab pole; separate etched metal interior grab poles; flush-fitting windows; and steerable front wheels with rubber tyres.

They will be available with a variety of different authentic identities and destination displays. Recommended retail price in standard form is £39.95, while a Deluxe version will be available for £10 more, with working headlamps, interior lighting and illuminated destination blinds.
