RALLY GUIDE 2021/22

Twelve months ago, we published our annual Museum & Rally Guide for 2020/21 in its usual 48-page pocket-sized format in the expectation that most of the planned events would go ahead as their organisers expected.

 How wrong could we be. By the time the magazine was on sale, the world as we knew it was changing by the day. The Covid-19 outbreak first identified in China hadbecome a global pandemic and the UK — like most of the world — imposed draconian controls to try to limit its spread. Most of the bus events planned for the spring of 2020 were cancelled by late March and only a few of those scheduled for the remainder of the year went ahead in any form.

The easing of controls over the summer allowed some to go ahead in modified forms, either with restricted visitor numbers to achieve social distancing or as spectator events in which moving vehicles could be photographed without being touched or boarded. A few became online virtual events.

 The prospects for the 2021/22 season remain uncertain, with far fewer events than normal scheduled at the time of going to press and some scheduled for the spring months cancelled before they were advertised. While some organisers are being optimistic and have…
