PRESERVATION UPDATE: MTT and GVVT

 

The wipe-out of most of the 2020 rally and open day season has denied visitors the opportunity of seeing some long-term restoration projects that are nearing completion.

Three of these are being undertaken by the Merseyside Transport Trust, whose Burscough headquarters open day on 12 July and annual running day on 20 September have both been cancelled.

When the lockdown brought work to a halt in March, the MTT had reached a final stage in its restoration of Liverpool Corporation L161 (RKC 262), an Alexander-bodied Leyland Titan PD2/20 new in January 1955 and in the care of the trust and its forerunner, the Mersey & Calder Bus Preservation Group, since March 1978.
