Route 8 trial brings New Routemasters in line with rest of fleet

From 9 August, passengers using New Routemasters on routes 8 (Bow-Tottenham Court Road) and N8 (Hainault-Oxford Circus) have been required to board though the front door and either show a paper ticket to the driver or tap in on the Oyster card reader by that entrance.

The centre and rear doors are for alighting passengers only, although wheelchair users board by the centre door, as they do on two- door buses.

The door controls have been modified to allow the front doors to be opened independently of the centre and rear. Prominent notices direct passengers to the front, and the Oyster readers near the centre and rear doors have been taken out of use.
