The days when bus conductors were employed to sell tickets and wear leather bags that filled up with low value coins have all but gone from our roads and if many who manage the industry have their way, so too will cash as a way of paying a fare.
Transport for London has long gone cashless and the rapid adoption of contactless and mobile phone payment should greatly reduce the volume of cash — coinage especially — circulating in the industry.
