Go Ride gives up its Essex network

Community interest company Go Ride abandoned its three-route network in Essex in mid February. They were the last services operated by the company, which at one stage ran 11 buses on 16 routes from bases in four counties.

Essex County Council has announced no replacement for these commercial routes, the weekday 79 (Clacton-Brightlingsea), which was suspended at times to provide two shopping routes to Colchester, the Wednesdays-only 72 and the weekday 73. It obtained a new vehicle for these routes in 2016 through the Department for Transport’s Community Transport Minibus Fund.

Accounts for 2017/18 show that Go Ride lost £23,000 on a turnover of £72,000.
