Metro 796 (UCZ 8796), a Wright Solar-bodied Scania L94UB dating from 2003, forms part of a float of vehicles with driver protection screens for use on Ulsterbus services during the pandemic lockdown. It was in Clifton Street, Belfast on 16 April while operating a mid-morning Ulsterbus service 573 journey from Ballymena via Antrim and Glengormley. It was passing Clifton House, opened in 1774 by the Belfast Charitable Society and functioning until the late 1880s as Belfast’s Poor House. It was used later as a nursing home and hospital for older people and is now an event venue, with part of the site adapted as sheltered accommodation.
