Founded: 1903 as Preston Corporation Tramways. Bus operation began 1922, tramway closed 1935. Some services operated jointly with Ribble 1931-86. Name changed six times, becoming Preston Bus when workforce bought Preston Borough Transport April 1993.
Stagecoach acquired Preston Bus January 2009 after ‘bus war’ that started 2006, but Competition Commission ruled in November 2009 that Stagecoach sell it again. Acquired by Rotala January 2011, which has expanded it into Lancashire and North Yorkshire. Acquired Elite Minibus & Coach Services, Blackpool 2016.
Where does it operate?: 15 routes (including two park-&-ride) within city boundary. Twelve beyond boundary as far south as Ormskirk and Appley Bridge, west to Blackpool and Fleet…
