FirstGroup may sell First Bus in three or four parts when a formal disposal process begins during 2020 and further cost is driven out of the business. Disposal of the Greyhound coach division in North America is a higher priority, with discussions already taking place with potential buyers.
Announcing First’s half-year results in November, chief executive Matthew Gregory confirmed that it remains committed to disposing of the UK and Ireland bus business, and says its most likely way forward will be to sell it in its entirety or in three or four geographically aligned parts.
