With passenger numbers up by 12% over two years, Scottish Citylink has upgraded its 24hr Edinburgh-Glasgow motorway express to Plaxton Panorama double-deckers. This comes against the background of heavy investment in the parallel rail service. ALAN MILLAR explains why it succeeds.

Eighteen new Plaxton Panoramabodied Volvo B11RLEs on Scottish Citylink’s high-frequency Edinburgh-Glasgow route 900 are another sign of the growing interest in double-deck coaches and help justify Plaxton parent company Alexander Dennis’s decision to re-enter that niche market in 2018 after a near 30-year absence.
