A DECADE OF WELSH BUS DEPARTURES

Many Welsh bus companies have disappeared from the scene in the turbulent decade since the Welsh Government announced a large cut in bus funding, as RHODRI CLARK reports

It is now a decade since the Welsh Government announced a large reduction in funding to bus operators in connection with devolution of the Bus Service Operators’ Grant (BSOG). It subsequently froze the funding at the reduced level although inflation affected costs, which meant that operators had to deal with a real-terms cut in funding each year.
