RHODRI CLARK found passengers struggling to locate regular routes diverted out of the Welsh town when a utility company dug up the road but many information sources appeared to be unaware

It is not unusual for bus passengers visiting the walled town of Conwy to be a little confused by its bus system, considering the large numbers who visit every year to see the castle and other attractions. But in November, even locals who use the buses were flummoxed.

The Castle Square stop in Conwy on the afternoon of 27 November, when the online journey planners of Traveline Cymru and Arriva were showing that it was in use as normal, as shown in the screenshot below.

On 25 November, a utility company dug up the road immediately outside the main Castle Square bus stop, closing it for several days and preventing any traffic turning left to cross the Conwy estuary eastbound towards Llandudno.
