OBITUARY
Chris McCormick, service delivery manager at Stephensons of Essex, died on 28 May.
He joined the industry as a conductor with Eastern National at Basildon, progressing to operations manager at Hadleigh, and eventually general manager for south Essex for First Essex Buses. He also pioneered the concept of lifelong learning centres, and became First’s UK manager for lifelong learning alongside his operational responsibilities in Essex. In 2004, he was appointed MBE for services to public transport and basic skills education.
After retiring from First in 2011, he worked casually with Stephensons and soon became service delivery manager (North).
