The UK Bus Awards have been held in person for the first time since 2019. JAMES DAY reports from the event
It was 2019 when Troxy, a Grade II listed art-deco theatre in Stepney, London, last hosted the UK Bus Awards. The year of 2020 was skipped entirely, due to the Covid-19 pandemic being at its height, while the 2021 Bus Awards combined with the UK Coach Awards, handing out a series of bespoke pandemic-focussed awards online.
Usual business resumed for 2022, with Jane Hill from BBC News returning once again to act as host. Opening the event, she described some of the standout stories of bus drivers going above and beyond over the last year, often saving the lives of passengers or people close to their bus route.
