CAETANO’S GOLD STANDARD

Abellio London has turned to Caetano Bus for its first battery electric buses. MARK LYONS had a close look at the prototype when it was demonstrated in the UK capital in August and learnt about the Portuguese manufacturer’s future thoughts on electrification of the British bus and coach markets.

The flat floor runs to just ahead of the rear row of five seats.

As we reported last month, Abellio has ordered 34 of Caetano Bus’s new e.City Gold battery electric single-deckers to electrify Transport for London routes C10 (Victoria- Canada Water) and P5 (Nine Elms-Elephant & Castle) from next spring. A right-hand-drive development vehicle — the first built for the UK — was displayed at Walworth garage in south London on 9 August.
