Buses hosts Scotland conference

As part of a two-day event at Voco Grand Central, Glasgow, Buses held the Public Transport Scotland 2023 conference in partnership with fellow Key Publishing title, Modern Railways. Buses in Scotland formed the second day of the event, with attendees benefitting from nine talks and a free three-course lunch.

While some highlights from the conference can be found below, full video recordings from the conference are available free from keybuses.com/busesconference.

The event was addressed via video link by Jenny Gilruth MSP, who at the time was the Scottish minister for transport. She has since been replaced by Kevin Stewart after a promotion to education secretary.

“Buses have the ability to reach parts of Scotland rail just can’t, and I see the importance of multi-modal journeys where walking or cycling can better connect onward travel,” she said.

“We’re committed to finding ways to make sustainable travel modes more attractive, but also supporting people to choose to make fewer journeys by car. That is key in relation to tackling climate change, and has a number of wider benefits.”
