Abellio gains the first and last New Routemaster routes

Abellio takes over three of the routes operated by New Routemasters on 9 November with a combined peak requirement of 52 buses. These include the first and last routes that were converted to the type

The 24 (Hampstead Heath-Pimlico), a challenging route that is bedevilled by traffic congestion and the disruption caused by demonstrations and other events in Whitehall and Westminster, has changed hands several times since Grey-Green won it in 1988. Metroline has run it from Holloway garage since 2012 and in June 2013 it became the first to be converted entirely to New Routemasters.
