Bids open for more green cash

£48million of government money is being made available to support the purchase of more electric, biogas and hydrogen buses in England and Wales between 2018/19 and 2020/21.

The bus minister for England, Nus Ghani, announced the Ultra Low Emission Bus Scheme on 28 March, saying it will enable local authorities and operators to purchase ‘hundreds’ of buses and charging or fuelling infrastructure to support them. The scheme is being administered by the cross-government Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), which has already provided funds towards the purchase of over 300 vehicles through its earlier Low Emission Bus Scheme.
